Personality development refers to our psychological traits and habitual behaviours that form a version of ourselves, which we present to others.

Since the many facets of our personality hinder or enhance our mental health, it is obvious that the two have a deep connection.

There are various types of personality, and each of them have a set chart for what they excel at, what worries them, what affects them, and so on.

A vast number of theories have originated on this topic both ancient and modern.

For example, The Big Five Theory mentions that there are five basic dimensions of personality and most individuals fall in the middle of the scales rather than at the extreme ends.

In ancient times, it was believed that they were 4000 personality traits, as time passed it was reduced to 16 and came down to a gradual five.

It is also believed that the humors or fluids present in our body have a compelling effect on our mental well being and personality. This is because blood, yellow bile, phlegm, and black bile were thought to influence behaviour.

Personality tests are also used to assess the mental condition of people. It helps to understand how they may act in a certain situation and then steps can be taken to dissuade from an anti-social reaction or persuade a model sense of reaction.

Researchers have found that the personality traits exhibited during childhood are linked to later health and are tied to other key health markers including overall longevity.

Extraversion and Introversion can be discovered by personality tests and their extent can also be evaluated. If extremities are observed, professional assistance can be taken in order to lead a normal life.

Personality disorders also consist of an expansive number, some of which are Paranoid, Schizoid, Schizotypal, Antisocial, Borderline,Histrionic, Narcissistic, Avoidant, Dependent, etc

Each if not treated on time, can have adverse effects on the individual as well as society.

Neurotic personality types suffer from feelings of loss, frustration, anxiety, stress. They go through each day in a constant state of turmoil.

While the distressed personality types suffer from depression, loneliness, negative emotions, self-hate.

The development of personality can be done by getting rid of detrimental habits such as addictions, vices, laziness, negativity, anger, and with the induction of ethical and proficient habits such as saving, concentration, creative mindset, smart-work, etc, the mental health is also improved, leading to better life choices and living.

Once an individual is aware of their personality they have a better chance of self-introspection. This makes them understand themselves and others better. Thus, being in a zen-like mental state without dealing with uncertainty.

Through various courses, both online and in-person, an individual can develop their personality. These life improvement classes as such bring about a positive aspect because they instill a sense of accomplishment, increase self-esteem and confidence. Whether it is learning a new language or a novel skill, it feels like another rung of the success ladder has been conquered.
